Sarasota's  Beaches

The sugar-sand beaches are probably the main attractions in the area, but you can only do the beach a little bit at the time. Especially in the summer time when the sun is beating down, you need to take a break from the sun if you don’t want to look like a lobster.  But you are at the beach, and that means you must be deprived culturally, right? We know the logic on this.

With an abundance of gorgeous beaches, marvelous sunsets, delightful restaurants and boats, boats and even more boats, it naturally follows that the area has to be naturally lacking in some regard. Right? Sorry, not right.

There is plenty to keep you amused, or maybe even amazed.

Whether you are a nature nut, cultural connoisseur, wholehearted historian or simply looking for a great escape from the ordinary, Sarasota has a lot to offer.

Sarasota Jungle Gardens

Banana trees, hibiscus, towering palms, ferns, crotons, they all create plenty of shade and make the whole park look like a “jungle.” There are bird and reptile shows, and of course alligators. Leave the civilization behind and step into another world. Your kids will love it.

Mote Marine Science Aquarium

This aquarium is filled with wonders of the local sea. Unless you are a fanatic diver you may see only a fraction of the creatures on display while you are swimming in the Gulf. And some of them you might not even want to see near you,   I am speaking about the many species of features sharks that typically swim around in the same waters you do.

A 135,000 Gallon Shark Tank, a 39 ft. Touch Tank, 22 Aquariums, Sea Turtles, Coral Reef and Grass Flat Displays, Rivers, Bays and Estuaries Displays and the marine mammal visitor center, if you want to meet your “neighbors” , Mote Marine is the place to go.
